At times you may need to remove contacts from groups within Real Magnet, whether these recipients are no longer engaged (non-opens) for example or perhaps you uploaded the wrong CSV file to a group in Real Magnet.  Using the Advanced Search tool you can segment recipients manually.  Marketing Automation offers more advanced and automated functionality with Segmentation Campaigns.

Separating Contacts

In order to add and remove recipients from the Real Magnet system, the standard recommendation is to use the Add/remove recipients under the Contacts tab. First, Real Magnet will require a list to separate from the main group.
  1. Upload the list of individuals you would like to unsubscribe to a group.
    • Make sure this group is named something distinguishable to aid in removing contacts
  2. Click on the main Contacts tab.
  3. Select the group you want to unsubscribe from on the grid.
  4. Click the Manage button.
  5. Select Add/Remove Recipient from the left hand navigation.
  6. Select Advanced Search in the upper right side.
  7. Select Groups.
  8. Select Recipients in a Group.
  9. Select Submit.
  10. Select the current group and the group you uploaded to unsubscribe.
    • Make sure the selector “And” is checked
  11. Select Submit.
    • The results displayed will be those in the current group and those you would like to unsubscribe
  12. Select the Remove All option in the upper right corner.
  13. Select Submit.
The individuals will be removed from the group. You can also add recipients using the Advanced Search feature using the instructions below.

Adding Recipients using the advanced search feature

  • Upload the list of individuals you would like to unsubscribe to a group.
  • Make sure this group is named something distinguishable to aid in removing contacts.
  • Click on the main Contacts tab.
  • Select the group you want to add to from the grid.
  • Click the Manage button and select Add/Remove Recipient from the left hand navigation.
  • Select Advanced Search in the upper right side.
  • Select Groups.
  • Select Recipients in a Group.
  • Select the group you uploaded earlier.
  • Click Submit and a list of qualifying recipients is returned.
  • On this results page, you select the recipients to add to the group.  Add individual recipients manually by selecting the Subscribed check box associated with a recipient, or add them en mass by selecting the Add All link.
    • The Select All automatically selects the entire list; the Select None icon will deselect all list members.
  • Click the Submit button at the bottom of the page and the recipients are added to the group.
