You can specify filter conditions for each message within a campaign.  The message will not be sent to any campaign members meeting the criteria.  The campaign member will still move to the next stage of the campaign.

Advanced View

In the Advanced Workflow Builder, whenever you add a message action, you can create conditions that apply to the action.  You can configure these conditions to filter out campaign members meeting criteria you specify.

Basic View

In the Basic View of the campaign editor, you can select filter options when you add a message to the campaign.  In the same ‘Configure Send Action’ window where you add the message, you will see a checkbox at the bottom that says, “Don’t send to a campaign member if…”  Checking this box opens up the following filter options:

  1. Recipient is in a group
    • This option prevents the message from being sent to any campaign member who belongs to another group.
    • Click the ‘Select Group(s)’ link to choose one or more groups for this condition.
  2. Recipient has a tag
    • This option prevents the message from being sent to any campaign member who has a specific tag.
    • Click the ‘Select Tag(s)’ link to choose one or more groups for this condition.
  3. Recipient was sent at least 1 message(s) in the last time period
    • This option prevents the message from being sent to any campaign member who has received the number of messages you specify in the time period you specify.
    • This counts ANY message sent by ANY of your campaigns.   Messages sent by other users are not counted.
    • The number of messages defaults to ‘1’.  Click the ‘1’ to enter a different number.
    • Click ‘time period’ to select a number of days, hours, and minutes.  The time period is counted backwards from the time when the message would be sent.
  4. Recipient was sent message(s)/any messages in a message category(ies) in the last time period
    • This option gives you the choice to prevent the message from being sent to any campaign member who has received one or more specific messages, or any messages from one or more specific categories, in the specified time period.
    • The default option is ‘message(s)’, which shows a ‘Select Message(s)’ link.  Click this link to select one or more specific messages.
    • Click the ‘message(s)’ link to select the option ‘any messages in a message category(ies)’.  This will show a ‘Select Message Category(ies)’ link . Click this link to select one or more specific categories.
    • Click ‘time period’ to select a number of days, hours, and minutes.  The time period is counted backwards from the time when the message would be sent.
  5. Recipient is in a campaign
    • This option prevents the message from being sent to any campaign member who also belongs to another campaign.
    • Click the ‘Select Campaign(s)’ link to choose one or more campaigns for this condition.
    • Recipients will not receive the message if they are in any stage of the selected campaigns, including the end stage.

You can select multiple filters.  Campaign members will not receive the message if they meet ANY of the filter options you select.

Reviewing filter options

Whether you use the Advanced Workflow Builder or the Basic View, the filter options you select will be displayed in natural language on the ‘Review Campaign’ page.
