Clients using Topic Codes in Aptify can sync recipient subscription data to Aptify from Real Magnet. This is a one way transmission from Real Magnet to Aptify. While subscription activity can be managed explicitly within Real Magnet or within Aptify, it is generally recommended that Real Magnet remains the database of record for your subscription activity. If it is the latter, subscriptions are not managed in Real Magnet and there would need to be a custom Aptify link appended to message templates.

Real Magnet offers the following subscription types that can be mapped back to Aptify:

  • Unsubscribe to Group Categories or Group
  • Unsubscribe to Message Categories

This guide walks through the different types of subscription activity that can write back to Aptify via the dbo.TopicCode table.

Updating Individual Record Preferences

Typically, Real Magnet is the database of record when it comes to maintaining a recipient’s subscription preference.

Recipient subscription preferences are managed by:

  • Users logging into Real Magnet and manually changing the recipient preference.
  • A one-click unsubscribe link by the recipient.
  • Via a subscription management page that is hosted by Real Magnet.

If a recipient needs to unsubscribe or subscribe it is recommended that it is completed following any of the steps above.

Subscription Activity Transmitted to Aptify

Below are the workflows per unsubscribe setting in the Aptify Real Magnet integration. Tracking information will display in an integrated product provided the following conditions are met:

  1. Subscribe and Unsubscribe tracking is enabled in the Tools section of Real Magnet under Aptify Management
  2. The recipient in Real Magnet has a valid ID in the Custom Member ID field

When checking the tracking log in the Tools section of Real Magnet under the Aptify Management tab, it is important to note the following:

  • Records with a non-matching Custom Member ID to Aptify ID will fail and subsequently not add additional records to the Real Magnet tracking area, or update the Topic Code.
  • Tracking will push back on a scheduled basis to Aptify once daily.

Real Magnet Subscription Activity as Activity Records

In this configuration, the following details in the Real Magnet Tracking Activity table will not update unless the following conditions are met:

  1. Subscribe and Unsubscribe tracking is enabled in the Tools section of Real Magnet under the Aptify Management
  2. The recipient in Real Magnet has a valid Aptify ID in the Custom Member ID field

In this configuration, the following details the Topic Code will not update unless the following conditions are met:

  1. Subscribe and Unsubscribe tracking is enabled in the Tools section of Real Magnet under the Aptify Management

  3. The recipient in Real Magnet has a valid Integration ID in the Custom Member ID field
