Real Magnet offers the ability to send your message according to a recipient’s time zone with the functionality Time Zone Send.  Note that the timing will be consistent across time zones.  For example, if you schedule the message to send at 1:00 pm that is the time it will be sent in each time zone.

Real Magnet identifies the appropriate timezone for each recipient based on the following logic:

  1. The recipient’s zip code.
  2. For any recipients without a zip code, Real Magnet will reference state.
  3. If the recipient record contains neither zip code or state, the message will be sent according to the default time zone.

To enable Time Zone Send have your account’s admin contact Real Magnet’s Support Team.

Permissions

Time Zone Send may be managed by any user with access to the account, however to implement it for message sends you must be able to:

  • Send Message to Group

Configuration

This is a one-time set-up process from the Tools page in Real Magnet.

To configure the default time zone:

  1. Select Account Management.
  2. Select Configure Time Zone.
  3. Select the Default Time Zone if a recipient does not have location information, this will be the time they would receive the message.
  4. Select Submit.

To configure recipient time zones:

  1. Select Account Management.
  2. Select Configure Time Zone.
  3. Check the boxes next to the time zones you want to send to using this feature.
  4. Select Submit.

Using Time Zone Send

Once configuration is completed, provided you have selected additional time zones, on the send page next to Schedule Send Time there will be a check box.   To send a message to recipients based on their time zone, select this option.

Canceling a Message with Time Zone Send

Because Time Zone Send specifies the time to send your message it creates a unique job for each time zone.  When you need to cancel this message, you may notice that you will have to select multiple items.   You can cancel a message from the Tools page.

  1. Select Cancel/Message Queue.
  2. Check the box Check to Select all Jobs for cancellation for the message
  3. Click Cancel All Selected Jobs.

Troubleshooting

Below are some common problems encountered when working with Time Zones.

Why did I receive my message hours after I scheduled it to be sent? 

Did you enable a default Time Zone that is not US/Eastern?  You can check this from the Configure Time Zone page.

My recipient received the message in my default Time Zone. 

Do they have a 5 digit zip code and their state selected? If the recipient record contains neither zip code or state, the message will be sent according to the default time zone.

I’m the approver for my account – why did I receive so many messages to approve? 

If you have Advanced Approved Sender enabled, for each job you will receive a message requesting approval.
