The campaign goal is the ultimate objective you want the recipient to complete.  (For example; sign up for a webinar, renew a membership, make a donation, download a whitepaper, buy a product etc.)
The Goal is also the indicator to Real Magnet that the recipient has completed the campaign objective and to stop sending further campaign emails.

Options to indicate that the recipient has reached the campaign goal fall into several categories.

Added to a Group (s)

Once the recipient is added to the group or groups they have reached the goal.

This is a good option if the actual goal (e.g., sign up for a Webinar) happens on your site. The recipient signs up, you upload that recipient to the specified group and now the campaign knows that the recipient has completed the objective and stops sending further campaign emails.

It is critical to update this group frequently to ensure that the campaign runs efficiently.

Field Changed to a Certain Value

When a recipient’s field is updated to a specific value, then they have reached the goal.

This is a good option if the actual goal (e.g., sign up for a Webinar) happens on your site.  The recipient signs up, you upload that recipient with the specific value in the designated field and now the campaign knows that the recipient has completed the objective and stops sending further campaign emails.

For example, you might create a custom field called “Webinar Sign Up ”and upload the value “Registered” for recipients who have achieved the goal.

It is critical to update recipients’ data frequently to ensure that the campaign runs efficiently.

Recipient is Tagged

When a recipient receives a Marketing Automation tag they have reached goal.  Tags are attributes assigned to a recipient based on them either doing something (e.g., opening a message or clicking a link) OR not doing something (e.g., Not opening any messages). Tags are used to tell the system that the recipient has reached a goal.

Registered for a Real Magnet Event

Once the recipient signs up of for a Real Magnet Event they have reached the goal.

For example; if you are using the Real Magnet events module for Webinar registrations, once the recipient signs up for the Webinar, the campaign immediately knows that the recipient has completed the objective and stops sending further campaign emails.

Because this action takes place on the Real Magnet site, there is no additional action you need to take (such as upload to a group or update a field.)

Submitted a Real Magnet Form

Once the recipient submits a Real Magnet Form they have reached the goal.

For example; if the goal is to submit a customer satisfaction survey, then once the recipient submits the survey, the campaign immediately knows that the recipient has completed the objective and stops sending further campaign emails.

Because this action takes place on the Real Magnet site, there is no additional action you need to take  (upload to a group or update a field)

Submitted a Real Magnet Landing Page

When a recipient submits a Real Magnet Landing page they have reached the goal.

For example; if the goal is to download a White Paper, then once the recipient submits the Landing Page the campaign immediately knows that the recipient has completed the objective and stops sending further campaign emails.

Because this action takes place on the Real Magnet site, there is no additional action you need to take  (such as upload to a group or update a field)

Website Tracking

When a recipient reaches a page on your site, they have reached the campaign goal.

For example, the campaign goal is to sign up for a webinar. The webinar registration takes place on your site. The registration confirmation page has the website tracking code within its header.  Once the recipient reaches the confirmation page they are updated in Real Magnet as reaching that page.

Because this is an automated process, there is no additional action you need to take  (such as upload to a group or update a field)

Email Confirmation Code

This is a good option when the Call to Action Goal happens on your site or a third party site.  Real Magnet generates a special code for the campaign.  When creating your confirmation email on the external site for the “thing” you are promoting, simply paste the confirmation code into the email and bcc the email to confirmations@realmagnet.com. When Real Magnet receives the email we find the email address of who it was sent to and locate the code and then update that recipient to have reached the goal.
